What Makes Southern Cross Campus Inc Different?
Southern Cross Campus Inc is so much more than just another educational experience! With love and compassion, we want to help children and youth reach their potential both academically and in life. That’s why we take a multifaceted approach to learning. There are 4 main pieces of our campuses that take the learning experience from great to life-changing:
- Administration
- Charter School
- Residential Housing
- Security

The Administration
The administrative wing of Southern Cross Campus will help facilitate staff and make sure that each child’s individual needs are being met. Bio/Psychosocial and medical baselines will be established here. Medical staff will be available 24/7 to help intake any children or youth entering Southern Cross Campus’ residential housing.

The Charter School
At Southern Cross Campus, we will offer a world class academic education for all 826 students ranging from Early Intervention through 12th Grade. Small class settings and the assistance of paraprofessionals in each classroom will help to ensure that each student is receiving the attention that they need.
Academics are only the beginning for our students. Each student will be given regular behavioral, physical, speech, and occupational therapies. Students will not be singled out because of their need for these therapies. Substance abuse counseling will also be a routine part of the curriculum.
To help ensure a smooth transition to adulthood, all students will be given practical skills training that they might not be receiving at home. Southern Cross Campus will help these children and youth to learn how to handle money, cook for themselves, do laundry, and many other tasks that we take for granted. Students will be able to earn “school money” for demonstrating good behavior and “spend” it at our rewards store.
All students will graduate from Southern Cross Campus with a high school diploma and an associate degree. We hope to build curiosity about the world and create lifetime learners.
Residential Housing
Southern Cross Campus will have home-like, residential housing available for 84 children and youth who have been removed from their family homes. Many of these children and teens will come to us through the local foster care system and help alleviate the overcrowding in these systems.
Reunification will be the goal for these children and youth from the moment they enter our program. We will work with local programs to create wholeness and health for local families.
Groups that will be admitted into our housing program include:
- Individual Children and Youth (Ages 9 -21)
- Sibling Groups (Birth – 21 Years of Age)
- Pregnant Teens / Teen and Baby Pairs
- Special Needs Children and Youth
The housing at Southern Cross Campus is designed to give children and youth the privacy and comfort to heal. They have come to us because of circumstances that are beyond their control. Most of the children and youth in our residential housing program will have private, single occupancy bedrooms with suite bathrooms shared between two bedrooms.
Available shared accommodations in each housing unit:
- Care Staff
- Security Personnel
- Living Rooms
- Kitchenettes
- Enclosed Porches
- Laundry Facilities
Youth aging out of our program at 22 years of age will be followed for up to one year after leaving our program. The purpose of this follow up is to ensure that these youth have all of the resources that they need to transition into adulthood successfully.

Security
Every child, youth, and staff member has the right to feel safe and secure at all times on our campuses.
State-of-the-art security systems will watch over the entirety of each Southern Cross Campus location. Armed and unarmed security personnel will be on campus 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. There will also be sophisticated, monitored security camera systems covering all shared areas on campus (including building rooftops). There will be security procedures covering all entries onto the campus.
